What organisers say:
I had the privilege to welcome Marco as my guest in the Sixstarleadership.com Podcast. Marco is a real leadership expert and an inspirational person to spend your time with. His knowledge, passion and energy are infectious and Marco’s vision about leadership and making impact gave me valuable new insights. Marco is the Author from The Connection Quotient. (Verbinden vermogen DUTCH). This is one of the best books I read, about the ability making connections, as driver for succes as a leader. Thank you Marco for sharing your story!
We were delighted with the way Marco launched our business year (2017). During two interactive seminars/workshops, each with a group of 120 analysts, he took us to the next level in our path to becoming a High-Performance Organisation and working with self-steering teams. Prior to the sessions, we discussed our wishes in detail, which resulted in an inspirational customised experience. During the sessions, Marco succeeded in captivating his audience from the start with provocative statements, original working methods and unconventional assignments. Additionally, he is a born storyteller with a wide-ranging toolset who is constantly seeking interaction with the audience, responding with agility in unexpected situations. Marco’s contribution has led to us speaking a common language in our department and has visibly lowered the barriers we perceive in approaching each other.
Marco Buschman was the most prominent speaker during the partner event of the Dam tot Damloop, the biggest running event in the Netherlands. With the topic ‘The Connection Quotient – How to get more from your partnership’, he convincingly highlighted the link between his expertise and the topic of how our partners can achieve more from the collaboration. Marco did this by telling a compact, interactive story that managed to fascinate them and get them engaged in discussion with each other. What I also very much appreciated was how he prepared the presentation in detail beforehand with everyone involved, and how, after giving the presentation, he took the time to make a contribution in the informal session that followed. So I was extremely pleased with the way Marco ‘performed’ and I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending him as a speaker.
Marco Buschman gave two interactive seminars for employees of De Staffing Groep in Nieuwegein, the Netherlands. Using his personal and practical book as a guide, he showed us how we can use ‘The Connection Quotient’ in our daily work as well as in our private life. Both workshops/seminars were considered extremely positive and inspiring and were given an evaluation rating of ‘9 out of 10’.
In “The Connection Quotient” event with Coachability Foundation, Marco Buschman of COURIUS showed in the most effective way how the values of connection and sharing, the core arguments in his homonymous book, can be put into practice. He guided the audience to actually experience themselves the main elements of his presentation by creating an atmosphere of interaction, a safe space for honest discussions and dialogue. By the end of the event all the participants were convinced why building meaningful relationships withs oneself and their environment is the cornerstone of growth both personal and professional.
Working with Marco is a pure pleasure. As organiser of seminars and other events, such as Topspeakers LIVE, I know exactly what Marco is capable of. He prepares his presentations with a military precision, geared to the wishes of his audience. A totally fun experience.
Marco organised a webinar for the KNVB (Royal Dutch Football Association) on the topic of connected leadership at amateur clubs. In it, he exudes the spirit of connection, knows what he’s talking about, and can get his message across to the target audience like no other. He researches the context of the target audience thoroughly beforehand and conveys his passion, energy and connection, before during and after the webinar recording. In other words: strongly recommended if you want to motivate your target audience to start working on their connection quotient.
What a fine session this was, on the topic of the Connection Quotient. By posing provocative questions and proposing ideas, Marco succeeded in getting even the most introverted individuals talking. Another thing that very much impressed me was seeing how Marco was able to constantly put himself in the shoes of the students, in a whole range of situations that they have to deal with on the work floor.
We are delighted to have had Marco as one of our expert speakers for International Leadership Week 2020. He is a highly enthusiastic speaker who brings real passion and commitment. It was an engaging presentation and extremely well received by delegates. It was wonderful to hear both forward thinking logic and well-constructed content.
Marco gave an energetic, varied and interactive webinar for our students taking the Management in the Care Sector course at the University of Applied Sciences Leiden. This resulted in fine insights and lively discussions about one’s own Connection Quotient.
We recently organised an online event in collaboration with Marco of COURIUS for the members of the PSV Business Network. The topic was: how to manage the team process and how to maintain everyone’s involvement, especially from a distance. The connection quotient was presented at three levels: as an individual, as a team and as a leader/manager. Based on scientifically proven principles, Marco engaged the group with his story of team development and commitment and then led the post-workshop panel discussion. This resulted in lively discussions and audience involement, leading to true interaction. It was gratifying to observe what a professional attitude and expertise on the part of COURIUS can achieve from a distance. And to see how Marco can convey his knowledge and experience to a group of entrepreneurs, on the one hand due to his compelling story, and on the other because he is such a warm person who knows how to speak and listen. Marco, Thank you for your expertise and energy!
Webinar The Connection Quotient by Marco Buschman –Inspiring and thought-provoking, a fine stimulus to engage with the theme of connection in a more conscious way. An excellent story, impressively presented, Marco!! Seeing you displaying your vulnerability and sharing your own life wisdoms with us was a moving experience.
We got to know Marco as a committed coach and trainer who helps our MBA participants in their leadership development. A committed and charismatic professional who knows what he is talking about!
‘Marco Buschman is a knowledgeable, energetic and inspiring speaker. He is willing to share his updated knowledge on human behaviour with as many people as possible in order to make an impact, for he knows that only through education change becomes possible. His passion is to spray useful knowledge people may use towards positive change that has an impact on themselves and others (family, circle of friends, community, organizations and society). We need more people like him amidst us’.
‘Marco is an amazing communicator. I interviewed him on the #100MasterCoaches show recently and he speaks with poise, balance, and heart. His body of work extends into a person’s subconscious to unlock the awareness and bring out the best in leaders. He is a passionate and inspirational coach, speaker, and facilitator, who genuinely desires to connect with the “who” of every person’.

What participants say:
I had the pleasure to follow the International Leadership week, organized by the Institute of Leadership and Management. One of the most fascinating sessions was delivered by Marco Buschman, followed by a discussion he had with the inspirational Leader John Mark Williams. What caught my attention was the paradox between Functional and Relational elements in the workplace: although both of them are necessary and equal, yet the way we relate to ourselves and each other is more crucial to the successful functioning of organizations. Thank you for an inspiring presentation!
Committed, focused, with passion and enthusiasm, and with the aim of initiating a positive change. That’s how I would describe Marco – as a person, as a coach and as a speaker for groups. I have worked with Marco on several occasions, both 1-on-1 and in a group. Marco is strongly motivated to help people by giving them insights, by asking questions without ready answers, and by allowing individuals to become connected with themselves – and thus with others. Additionally, he is an extremely sociable person who doesn’t avoid difficult confrontations, but rather goes looking for them, aimed at nurturing “personal growth”. If you need an enthusiastic speaker who can captivate an audience, who (literally) sets things in motion and dares to show his vulnerability, then Marco is your man.
I have worked with Marco during my stint with Capgemini Group L&D for one of the flagship Leadership Development interventions. He was amongst the pool of 2 Lead Faculties who were instrumental in making the program a runaway success in its first year of launch. In my experience of working with Marco I have found him an extremely versatile faculty who very effectively played the roles of a Faculty, Consultant and a wonderful Coach to help build future VPs of the group. He is a wonderful individual with very high level of emotional quotient and maturity to handle even the most difficult senior level audience with ease. I wish him all the success in future and hope to stay connected.
Marco is a master of the art of engaging his audience in a playful yet provocative way. Using short stories, examples and assignments, he gets his message across. The result is no ordinary presentation about the Connection Quotient but a profound experience of its power, which leaves people with wonderful insights and wisdom. And he does this in his own unique style: casually but effectively, while at the same time allowing his audience to quickly feel at ease with the topic and the experience they are about to go through. For Capgemini, he was easily able to make the link with specific challenges within the organisation so that the relevance of his story was completely accepted by his audience, and the experience was fully geared towards the company.
What a fascinating day! In a playful manner, getting to grips with how teams work. The first exercise immediately generated conflict and disappointment, etc. In other words, total group dynamics. Throughout the day, you learn the best way to deal with it. And you get a good idea of how you can work with it as a trainer. Good balance of theory and practical assignments. Highly recommended for everyone who works with teams.
I took part in a Leadership Program facilitated by Marco. With his help, I initiated a journey I could not have imagined beforehand. Marco creates a safe place within no time, and then leverages his expertise, experience and emotions to nudge you in the right tranformational process. He is definitely one of the best facilitator I have met. Thank you Marco, your impact is still consistent months later, it is crazy!
The ‘Managing based on trust’ Masterclass was a pleasurable session with people from highly diverse backgrounds, providing me with a lot of new and practical information. For example, the very next day, I was able to make use of the insights I had received in a fine, open discussion when talking with a direct colleague of mine about our mutual intentions. This led to us becoming more aligned with each other, so that we understood each other better, and succeeded in defining a common goal.
We went into the masterclass as a pair and were immediately struck by the welcoming and open atmosphere – enabling us to give and receive direct feedback from the start. It was confrontational at times, but that only made it all the more interesting! In addition to the fact that Marco and Claudia were themselves very open in the workshop, the masterclass also has its own build-up that stimulates discussions with the other participants. It felt really good to hear about the kinds of situations the others were in, because it got you thinking too. There was an exceptionally good balance of explanation, interaction and lots of laughter! evel And the follow-up by Marco and Claudia was super. Thank you!
Marco’s presentations are straight to the point and with a deep awareness from an unseen perspective. They are confronting, interactive and fun. I especially like the practicality of the insights which makes them easy to apply.
I took away a lot of new learnings which I have used to open up new paths in my professional career and to create deeper connections in my personal life. His presence is calm and powerful, inviting me to look inwards and reflect on who I am and what’s important in life.
Reveal the system to itself – 5 words dropped quickly at the end of an intense 1,5 hour VisualsAtWorkBootcamp. They describe perfectly how I felt, in some way revealed to myself:). Marco shared calmly, clearly, authentically and with humour his theory, exercises and, above all, his own pitfalls for the functional and relational balance p|ART in Facilitation. So the beautiful magic created by Marco and the trust in the process, in the other and in myself, could take place. Next time I know what to do while I’m scribing in a workshop and start judging instead of real listening. Thanks a lot Marco for your teasing and helpfull questions.
The “Coachability Foundation’s” webinar with Marco Buschman was surprisingly personal, unlike most webinars. It went quickly to the heart of the matter: Are we about doing or being? Do we value IQ over EQ? Are we connecting functionally or relationally? As always, live is not about either/or but a balanced and/and. Interestingly, though, when it comes to leadership, we all found that the relational aspects were more determining than the functional ones. Food for thought, time for introspection.
Earlier I had already read Marco’s book “The Connection Quotient”, in Dutch “Verbindend Vermogen”. It goes deep, is entertaining, (many YouTube QR codes to illustrate a point), and is a recommended read!
Thanks to the Coachability Foundation for hosting this. Their mission is empowering female entrepreneurs in fragile settings. A mission close to my own heart.
Thank you for this unique morning. Amazing how Marco Buschman of COURIUS succeeded in moving us all in such an authentic way. And that’s only possible because he walks the talk himself: he presents you with a mirror, with love, without being patronising. He tells you what he sees happening, with an eye for vulnerabilities. And he gets us learning, on the basis of equality.
More than enough material to reflect on. We can start flying again in the coming weeks. So grateful for this encounter.
I was instantly drawn to COURIUS’s webinar on leadership and found it really refreshing, especially of balancing functional and relational skills. Thanks for being your authentic self, talking wit humility and integrity, being an inspirational public speaker and for exuding positive energy.
I have worked with Marco on a number of occasions: leadership development programs, coaching, keynote speach,…. I like and keep working with him based on the quality of his work, his expertise, his personal and human-centric way of working, collaborative approach and can do attitude. Marco is good in and passionate about what he does!
‘From Marco Buschman’s talk, I learned about the difference between a dream and an aspiration such as how I dream to give back to my family but I also aspire to own my own business. I also learned that I am a doer and about how I could overwork myself if I did not manage my time well due to the type of person I am when it comes to work. I also managed to hear many other peoples perspectives on certain things which I also found interesting as it is always nice to hear other people’s views!
